 Journey of the Swords

Four of Swords

Four of Swords...A Time to Heal

by Bonnie Moss 02-2006

In the Rider-Waite deck, a knight lies on top
of his tomb, his hands in attitude of prayer.
Three swords hang above, a fourth one is
fastened to the side of his tomb. The number
4 represent the reality of the world. At times,
this number stands for defeat misery and poverty,
materially or spiritually.

The suit of Swords represent the element air.
It reflects the intellectual capability to
handle problems. Swords also denote stress,
chaos,infidelities and difficulties.

Life is never a bed of roses. Who has not
known pain and anguish.Who has not suffered
the wounds of a broken heart. Problems are
challenges life throw our way. We navigate
through the detours and potholes in our
journey. We set sail, aware of the possibility
of stormy weather that can develop overnight.

At times, we take more than we can handle. We
are caught up in giving ourselves to the call
of duty. We tend to justify the demands on our
time and energy. We forget that the world will
go on, with or without us.

Do you listen to the signs the body is sending
to slow down or take a much needed rest? Sorrow
and grief need to be acknowledged. A grieving
heart affects the spirit deeply. It weakens the
mind and the body

How can you search deep within if peace has
eluded you? You might even consider a vacation.
This is not running away, your woes are still
hovering over you, get away from the source of
conflict to gain a better perspective.

Time to rest from some difficult times, perhaps
the trauma of breakup or departure, relationship
or family problems, financial and health worries,
stress and conflict.Take a break, this is not
the time to make decisions. Not when you are
most vulnerable.

Life goes in cycles, sometimes the cycle is up,
then it goes down, like the spokes of a wheel.
If you feel you need some time to sort out
issues, this is the ime to do that.

Anxiety and worry cloud our judgment. Perhaps,
there is a need to cut some slack for now.
What would you change if you are faced with
the same situation?

This is a good time to re-evaluate and re-assess
your priorities. This is a time to step back
and look after your needs, relax , catch your
breath, even for a short time, because you have
to take the next step, the battle is not over.

Plan the next stage, for life’s problems do
not dissipate into thin air .This is the time
to pull yourself together, empower yourself so
that your thoughts and actions are in harmony
with the highest truth of who you are.

There could be a chance at reconciling differences
with a change in attitude and perspective.

Deep wounds need healing and this takes time.
Retreat is a good start- retreat from all that
is worrisome, confusing and aggravating. Quiet
time and time alone to reflect is a good way
to get energized and prepare to move on.

This is the time to recharge your energies. It
is time to heal, mind, body and soul.It is a
time to recognize the chaos and confusion that
can cause illusions or delusions and make
peace so elusive.

Judge not for what is good for you may not
have the same effect on the other. Forgiveness
offer freedom.

Time is a great healer, if you let it.
